There's a simple solution to that. Don't submit stuff that's bound to get rejected for stepping on the toes of other themes. Designer Pierre Normandin has done a commendable job of producing something that not only looks good, but which can also be used as a regular LEGO train, on LEGO's ridiculously tight curves and points, should you wish. Personally I think it looks a bit daft when traversing them, but it's good that it's possible.

In continental Europe this loco is very well known and regarded as iconic. From my point of view a good Choice!" The noses are 7-wide with a narrower 5-wide upper section. The two 2x4 tiles on the front looks a bit awkward but does appear to be roughly prototypical. I love Lego trains! I still believe it is a theme that TLG should spend more energy and focus, not deliver 20 sets in a year, but imagine, acessories and small builds such as stations or rail crossings would be very welcome even for kids. I remember collecting 9v sets and we had cargo stations, cleaning sheds, multiple railroad maintenance vehicles... Will buy this one for display "

What's that saying, if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself? Lots of authentic touches including elements in rare colors and all-new large train wheels with piston motion!

Personally I think after 12v and 9v they tried to get away from the "special use parts" and more toward parts that can build any type of model/design Still doesn't mean that any serious redesign would be required. Not at all. Swapping those few bits out is super easy. Especially with the updated 6x28 baseplate with it's larger holes for the Power Functions connectors.
