Twin Peaks: The Entire Mystery features a wonderful DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 surround experience. The series' sound design makes the I've seen 'Twin Peaks' in a lot of different video formats. Years ago, I even watched the entire series in the atrocious quality EP-speed VHS collection that was the only way to see it after the original ABC broadcasts. Later Laserdiscs were a little better. The DVDs were a significant jump over that, and at the time I couldn't imagine the show ever looking better. More recently, 'Twin Peaks' has been offered in high definition on streaming services including Netflix and VUDU, sourced from the same masters as the DVDs, which are now showing their age but still mostly look pretty decent. Atmospherics (Disc 10, HD, 13 minutes): The discs' menus feature various environment and show clip loops set to series music Nevertheless, even though I've been an obsessive Twin Peaks fan since the original pilot episode aired in April of 1990 and have watched every episode multiples times, I went into the belated third season harboring very mixed feelings. David Lynch had been in a period of unmistakable artistic decline for a number of years, and his last feature film, 2006's Inland Empire, was a three-hour disaster. I couldn't help fearing that anything Lynch touched today would wind up being more like that than the show I fell in love with.
